Story 10 - NAPOLEON'S BUNNY ATTACK, 1807

Let me tell you one of my favorite pieces of history.

July, 1807. Napoleon has just wrapped up the Treaties of Tilsit—he’s basically conquered half of Europe—so they celebrate with a royal hunt.

His Chief of Staff, Alexandre Berthier, orders three thousand rabbits for the occasion.

So Napoleon steps into the field… and suddenly thousands of hungry rabbits come charging at him like it’s feeding time.

They pile around his boots.

They climb his coat.

He’s swatting them with his riding crop while the most powerful man in Europe is slowly being overrun by bunnies.

Eventually Napoleon has to retreat to his carriage—

with rabbits chasing the coach down the road.

Which just goes to show…

History has two sides.

On one side: Napoleon Bonaparte—conqueror of empires.

And on the other…

the day he lost a battle

to three thousand rabbits. 🐇🥃
